Why is my battery life getting worse and worse? Please help!

For the past month or so the battery life of Moto Z Droid has become horrible.

I have to charge it at least twice a day because it dies so quickly.
This is with moderate use because I am in school most of the day.

It keeps saying the battery is being charged by a USB, but it never is. I always use AC charging.

I took multiple pictures so maybe they can explain more and better than I can.
 
Welcome to Android Central! Charge up to 100%, then let it drain to 20-30% with normal usage, without charging in between. Then show us:

1. The main Settings>Battery screen.
2. The fullscreen battery graph screen (which shows Awake time and Cell Signal Strength).
3. The Screen category (to see total Screen On time).
4. The Cell Standby category, if present (to see Time Without Signal).

You might have to install a 3rd party battery monitor, like GSam Battery Monitor, to get the Cell Signal Strength graph.

If the battery charges up very slowly (while it's telling you it's charging via USB), then there might be a problem with your charger or the port. Does it charge up a lot more slowly? Have you already tried different charging cables/plugs?
 
Yes it charges extremely slowly and I have tried multiple different cords, yet they all give the same outcome.

My actual Motorola charger died or broke some how over a month ago. I've been using a Samsung charger ever since. Could this be a problem?
The guy at the store said it will be fine because their ports are the same.

I will do what you recommended about the battery from 100% to 20% tomorrow. I messed it up today by charging it in between by accident.
 
Are you saying that you've tried different cables, but always the same Samsung plug? Samsung chargers can sometimes be a little funky. Can you borrow any other charging plug?
 
I've tried all of those different plugs

I'm currently using the Samsung one, with the cord that's on the black box

Go to your local Verizon store and ask if you can test an original Moto charger and cable. If the same thing happens, then we can exclude that as the issue.
 
okay I will go to the Verizon store either tonight or tomorrow, here are the screenshots you asked for (at least I think they are lol)
