why is my battery not charging fully though its plugged for hours?

I have spice stellar 440 model and its not charging very well. It shuts down suddenly and a notification stating over battery temperature and remove battery is shown.

The charging equipment or the battery may be faulty. If you can open the back, check that the battery is not swollen. If it is, it needs replacing; but even if not, it may be bad.
***Be very careful handling swollen batteries....they can be dangerous.
