Why is my charging cable for HTC ONE m7 trickle charging all of a sudden?

I've been using this same cable for a few months now, and it used to charge fast.. like 90 minutes from 20%, but just recently I plugged it in and it now says your device may charge slower because it's not an HTC charger, or whatever and it takes more than 3 hours to charge now!!?

Can someone help me fix this? Or, at the very least how can I tell if my phone is trickle charging, or not? I don't get that message anymore, but charging times are still long...

I would suggest trying out a different charger, it could be the the charger that is causing the issue.
