google maps blows out my ear drums

Okay, so the problem i have been having with my M8 is this. I drive a lot for work. While I am driving I am constantly using google maps for navigation. But the real problem occurs when I receive a phone call while i have google maps currently routing me somewhere. While I am on my phone when google maps wants to give me a direction it gives the directions through the main speakers which are pressed to my ear while I am in the call. When i had my old Evo LTE it would be routed through the phone call earpiece and would quiet whoever i was talking to and was a gentle thing. How in gods name do I get google maps to stop trying to make me go deaf without having to turn off voice directions on google maps?

Maybe it's security feature to preclude the user from not using hands free while driving. Pure speculation. I've noticed the same thing but I use the nav feature hands free while on a call during nav. The caller cannot hear the nav 'voice'. My phone is held securely to the dash via a ram ball.

Well if that is a "security feature" its not very SAFE because its caused me to almost drive right off the road on multiple occasions because it is VEEEERRRRRYYYY loud. I'm also fairly sure that it may have caused permanent hearing damage. There has to be a way to fix this issue.

LOL, yeah if you are not aware of it that'll hurt. I don't know if there is an option to lower nav volume or not during a call, but I noticed the loudness while my phone was mounted to dash in speaker mode. The nav voice was much louder than the callers voice.
I'm assuming you have phone in speaker mode for nav and when you get a call you switch speaker off for call?

I'm also having a problem with volume from Google Maps. I have a hearing loss and use an Oticon hearing aid with a streamer. The streamer has a Bluetooth link with my Droid4 which allows me to hear the audio from the Droid in my earpieces. The volume from Google Maps is barly adequate when the car is not moving. When moving, the road noise drowns out the Google Maps instructions.

There are three volume controls involved: on the Droid, on the Streamer device, and on the earpieces. I would like to minimize the amplification of the ambient noise while increasing the volume of the instructions.

Does anyone have experience with such a set up?
