I have to agree with B. Diddy it sounds like the phone may not be receiving the proper voltage from the charger and is questioning what the connection is. I would definitely discontinue use of that cable and find/buy another one to use. Hopefully it's just the cable and not the port or the battery itself, but the cable is the least expensive thing to replace so that is a good place to start.
