Why is my LG Optimus Fuel unable to Download from Google Play?

I have an LG Optimus Fuel (recently brought last December) and I'm having trouble downloading any apps from Google Play, it will either download part of the app or almost entirely and then stop with an 'error' message saying the app failed to download. I've downloaded apps from this site before, as it comes installed with the phone, without any problems except for recently. I thought it could be due to low memory, but I've cleared what I could and to no avail. Any ideas?

Welcome to Android Central! Go to Settings>Apps>All, select Google Play Store, and Clear Cache/Clear Data, then Force Stop. Do the same for Download Manager. Now try again.

If that doesn't help, try going to Settings>Accounts​, remove your Google account, then add it back again.
