Why is my microphone not working when my aux cord is plugged in

I have a galaxy s8+. My microphone will not work to answer calls when it is plugged into the aux port in my truck. It worked for a while then stopped. Nothing has been spilled on it nor has anything been shut off

Welcome to the forums. AFAIK using the aux port would turn the phone into a media device. That may have something to do with it. Why aren't you using BT? Does your truck not support that?
