Mobile data is automatically turning on - Galaxy S6 (maybe after 6.0.1 Marshmallow update?).

I always turn off my mobile data unless I'm using it, especially at night. If not, I get a huge battery drain and lots of data being used.

The past several days, during the night and during the day, I'll toggle to my data to turn it on, and find it already on, and my battery life will have been sucked down 10-20%. I was just thinking I forgot to turn it off, but I've been really paying attention the last 2 days and I KNOW I turned off the data. Last night I had my data off, battery was at 78%. I wake up to data on, and battery life to 52%.

I have not downloaded any new apps. The only new thing is my phone updated to Marshmallow. Something is turning on my data and I can't figure out what. I looked at all my apps to see if any of them had permission to change network/data, but they don't.

Please help! I'm going on a trip soon and will not be able to charge my battery if it drains crazy like this.

Re: Mobile data is automatically turning on - Galaxy S6 (maybe after 6.0.1 Marshmallow update?).

It may just be a bug in your update. You could first try wiping your partition by booting into recovery. I've seen this advice offered a lot and understand that it doesn't cause much, if any, data loss. Forcing your device to rewrite the partitions may cause it to correct a pathway problem. In the past large updates to AOS has almost required a factory reset, because of the bugs that occur after the update. The update tries to avoid data loss by modifying and adding to code around the changes. Occasionally this doesn't go so well and little bugs popup that can be different from user to user or the same for many users. Factory resetting the device installs the whole OS as one item instead of only trying to modify portions and this often fixes these small hiccups.
