This was the first time this happened to my nexus 5 (6.0.1).
My phone just went black and froze on me. I could see the all the WiFi signal, the time and among other at the top of screen.
The app I had running was called darker. Its where it dims the screen and gives it a red hue.
I tried powering it down but I could do nothing.
So I just threw my phone off to the side thinking it just died completely. To my surprise now its working.

What cause this?
Also, does that mean I need to get a new phone soon?
I haven't rooted this phone.

It is possible that the darker app caused it. Try uninstalling that app and see if it helps.

Well my phone just died.
At first it would power itself off. Now I can't power it up anymore.
Is there anyway for me to retrieve some of my saved info in the SD card?

I don't have the darker app, still seeing this problem. Screen turns non responsive to touch. Hardware buttons are working fine. Reboot doesn't help.

I think some sort of circuit might have been broke. Can't think k of the word.
Unfortunately it would cost me too much for someone to take a look at it.
I wished these phones had removable SD cards. At least what ever I saved on there could be retrieved.
