Why is my Nexus 5 Touch Screen unresponsive

While i was at school my Nexus 5 is still working properly. Our class will be staring soon so I turned on my Nexus 5's screen to put it to silent mode and close some apps, but white horizontal lines suddenly keeps appearing and disappearing and will appear again (like it was Fluctuating) then i turned the screen off and turned it on again and the white lines stopped but when i tried to unlock it, the touch screen won't work. I did not drop it nor did it got wet. What caused it to do that? (NOTE: I did a hard reset, Factory Data reset doesn't work, and other buttons is still working properly) PLEASE HELP!

You should go to factory reset settings. It will resolve your issue. However, keep a backup of all of your data and links before applying the factory reset settings.

If the hard reset didnt work - Im afraid its probably a failure on some of the hardware

I've the same problem too. Replaced my touch screen with digitizer. No luck..

It's probably just a dead spot in phone it happens to touch screens every once in awhile had it happened to me on my phone. Nothing you can do about it maybe buy a new screen and replace it.
