why is my nexus female when tts is set to male

I had the misfortune to buy a nexus 6 after 6 Samsungs. the TTS doesn't allow the reading of texts or calandar entries automatically so I had to download other apps. Now my google Now and Maps are women. I have the app set to male, i have even downloaded and deleted the female. i have restarted but still there is a sex change happening somewhere all of the time. How do I make it stay male? If I were allowed to install Ivona I wouldn't have this problem with the angry lady voices I could have Gwyneth

Maybe because Google picked your name up as a female?

Sorry I can't help with the sex change, but I'd like to know what apps you downloaded to read texts and calandar entries automatically. I miss that from my Samsungs too.

I can think of one app that does that - the Moto X Pure Edition.
