Why is my Note 3 draining when charging?

HI Ashley... My phone - Note 3 also acted this way since yesterday evening. Before that it was fine, but then while I was visiting my customer it was raining heavily and I put my Note 3 in my front pocket while I walked with umbrella to cover me from the heavy rain. I noticed that after I left and I was using my Note 3 to navigate my way back home using Google maps, I charged the phone but somehow it was not charged. I left it like that thinking issue with cable or charging unit on my car. But only today when I was in office I plugged in my USB cable to my Note 3 to charge it, then I realized that my battery power is getting lower faster when I charge it. I was thinking, is it because of the rain yesterday, because other than that issue everything is fine.

I have external charger and 2 batteries, so I as using my phone currently while the other battery was charged using external charger. Anyway, do you managed to solved the problem?

It could be water damage, the port on your phone or the charging cable/adapter. I have gone through two Samsung USB 3.0 cables (as my GF and I both have the Note 3) and they all go bad the same way, the phone charges but extremely slow. And when I go into battery info it shows charging but via USB rather than AC. If your phone shows charging via USB and you don't have it connected to a USB device (such as a computer USB port) you need to try another cable or adapter end. I ended up going through a lot of normal microUSB cables as well trying to find a good one which would charge via AC and not USB. USB charging will take like 4-5 hours to charge the phone while AC will be approx 1 hour or less. But I would try another battery too before giving up. You can also reset your battery stats,

Hi ,

Ive replaced the whole lower micro usb part since the water damage as I thought it was the micro usb that was faulty...

It says "Charging (AC)" when connected to the wall outlet.

ive tried different batteries ande usb wires (both 2.0 and 3.0) and still no luck

I stumbled across this trying to fix the same problem. I turned off app optimizer and power saving mode and it seems to have fixed it. I can't test right now because I need my phone charged for a long trip. But I'm like 60% sure it is solely the fault of app optimizer. Try turning that off and see if yours is fixed.

I dont know the solution but I know how to use the same charger to charger to your phone which does't charge.
I have samsung galaxy note 3 n9005 my phone setting and box says this is n9005 but when I check by entering imei no it says n900. Whatever !!
So I found this fix my phone charges well if I plug any charger but when I connect my default charger it doesn't.
Or you could say I connect my default adapter with any of the cable it doesn't charge. Something really wrong with default adapter and phone combination.
Because when I connect that faulty adapter or charger to any other phone it charges so charger adapter is fine.
Fix -
1 - First of all take the faulty charger and remove its cable and plug any other cable in it(because note 3 has default cable which would not attach in other phones) and start charging any other phone for 3-4 mins.
2- After 4 mins immediately remove charge from the phone and charge your own phone.
Guess what now your phone charges well and fastly you could also use your default cable which is I think 3.0 that with a broad charging end.
According to me there's really something wrong with phone software and phone model.
