Why is my phone becoming unresponsive while charging?

Recently and randomly my Honor 8 has been locking up during charging. The phone indicator light showing the green for full charge works. I can remove and insert the plug and it comes on and off but nothing else works, just a black screen. I hold and reset the phone for it to work again.

The phone is fairly warm when I find it after these situations but nothing to hot to touch.

I'd appreciate any thoughts, ideas or solutions. I've read about some of the overheating issues but do not know what specific part it is happening and will pay attention the next time it happens.

For inquiry it's happened after the phones been plugged in a car charger for 10 mins or plugged in to a wall charger for the night.

Thanks,

Buttercup

Yes, I have to restart it each time it happens by holding the side button. My alarms and app updates do not work when the phone is in this mode. Perhaps it's because the phone is shutting off and not freezing?

Not sure what to suggest other than to do a factory data reset and don't install any apps to see if you still have the same problem. Make sure you backup data first

It is concerning that your phone is getting hot while it's charging. Some degree of warmth may be expected in some cases, for sure; but if it's hot, then I too suggest contacting Huawei or Honor customer support.

Well I was thinking it could be an app out of wack causing the phone to heat up.

So an fdr should fix it if it's a third-party app.

Getting hot while getting charged sounds dangerous. Let us know if factory reset helped, OP.

I read what Morty said so I comment after hers. But OP apparently only said it gets warm. I should've read more carefully on OP's post l. My bad.

OP said "fairly warm" which was a warning flag to me. Perhaps I overreacted though. Haha sorry!
