Why is my phone deleting emails before I can read them?

This started happening about 2 weeks ago, but any time I get a notification about a new email and click on it to look at it, once the default email app opens on my phone, a small message at the bottom pops up saying that "Its unable to view the email since it has been deleted." Keep in mind I have never read the email, yet its already deleted. I've had important emails from my work and events I'm going to deleted because of this and I was never able to read them.

Welcome to Android Central! Are you using the stock Email app, or some other one? Which email provider are you using (or is this a Microsoft Exchange account from work)?

Email servers come in 3 flavors - IMAP, POP3 and Exchange.

If it's Exchange, you're in an office environment and you'll have to ask the email administrator. There are too many ways to set Exchange up for anyone but the person who set it up to answer questions about that particular setup. (Ask that person if they made any changes about 2 weeks ago.)

If it's IMAP or POP3, check the Webmail site for that email address (it usually can't be done from the phone app) and see if it's set to delete emails when told to by the client. If it is, turn that off. Then see if you can read your emails.

If it's not exchange, it could be that there's someone else (boyfriend, husband, father) on your Google account, you use Gmail (or, if you use some other email server, that account), and the other person is reading the email before you do, then deleting it.
