Why is my phone heating so much and having its battery drained a lot?

My phone is a Vivo v7 plus. I am a kid so I do play games, but I play simple games that don't drain the battery at all. I have a Octa-core snapdragon 450. It runs Android 8.0. But still, I don't know why it overheats and has its battery drain a lot. Please help!!

Sounds like the battery itself could be failing, possibly shorted out internally if it was too hot to touch. I would take it you a repair shop.

Could be a rogue app running in the background. Do you have Facebook installed? That's a known resource hog.

Can try safe mode just make sure no 3rd party apps cause this.
