Why is my phone mot commecting to my laptop

My usb debugging is on. The mtp or connect to option is not showing on the notification panel when I connect it to my PC. The phone is changing while connected. Media is not being transferred as the phone is not detected by any PC (tried on 3). Help.

With Android 6.x when you connect for the first time, the option to ignore the connection dialog is automagically checked so if you don't remove it - it never comes up again (whose bright idea, I've no idea).

For example, if you had selected to charge only - the device can -then- never be put into file transfer, right?.. How crazy is that...

Anyway, unless it's something else wrong with your thing, to change USB options:

Developer options > Select USB Configuration

Welcome to Android Central! If that doesn't work, then try different USB cables, since cables can fail without notice.
