why is my phone turning on shows the flash and reboots

my phone will show the smasung galaxy III dous screen, and then reboots to go to the same screen. on ocassion it will show the screen with the samsung logo and that ring. but with lag and then again just reboot. i can only activate the phone for a few seconds if the battery is out for several hours. (3-10 hours)
and the situation is getting worse, is my battery the problem here?
and yes my phone is fully charged.

Welcome to the forums. Try taking your battery out, placing it on a flat surface, and try to spin it. If it does, it is bulged and needs to be replaced. The bulge would be causing a pivot point that creates a disconnect.
