Why is my phone's battery is draining so fast and it has overheating issue?

I've bought Moto X Play 2 months ago. Since then I have facing some issues like lagging and overheating. Lagging is not that big issue but there is very high overheating.... The back part as well as screen is heated very much that I can't even talk on call. Why is happening and how to get rid of it?
Please Help Me!!!

Hi, the Moto X play shouldn't be heating up that much, to the point where it's uncomfortable to touch. I would look to return it as no phone should reach that temperature.

First, give ahead and accept the fact of doing a factory reset on your device. So make sure you back up all important files. Only backup needed files, do not try to use an app to restore system settings and data.

Once done, before you start downloading apps, uninstall/disable all bloat ware you will not be using.

Try that for a few days and report back.
