Why is my Pixel 2 battery draining so fast?

I have a Pixel 2 and have a battery life question. I took my phone off charge at 100%, and now, 55 min later, it is at 66%.

I have used chrome for 38 minutes, Instagram for 11 minutes, and I refreshed my newsfeed once. I have battery saver on (always), I have adaptive brightness on at 24%, and I have auto sync for accounts off. I don't have any heavy apps like Facebook etc. My software is up to date and I have restarted my phone. My phone also gets quite warm quite often.

Does this seem normal or like a fast drain? Any suggestions? Thank you!!

It's high. Ridiculously high. Android Pie no longer lets you see battery use by app, so install a battery app like AccuBattery. Use it to pin down the app (or apps) that are rapidly draining your battery.

Thank you so much! I actually did look at the battery usage - I have just attached the screenshots I took right beside my original post. It's showing only 7% battery usage for a 31% drain.

Any ideas on what may be causing this? Let me know if you need more info!

Hi, Experienced similar battery drain after PIE upgrade. Not using the phone, no apps in use, and it would drop by 20-30% in an hour. Tried turning off new 'feature' Adaptive Battery and that seems to have resolved the problem. Go to Settings > Battery > Adaptive Battery. When off you should see the word 'Off' under the words Adaptive Battery.

I ended up contacting Google UK support for my battery drain. Did the standard safe mode and factory reset to no avail, so got my replacement on Wednesday last week, and so far, it's MUCH better.

Took phone off charge yesterday morning, still at 58% as I type this!

I have the exact problem. App usage seems to be not enough for the battery drain that I'm experiencing. Contacted Google UK, about to factory reset my phone then if it's not gonna help get a replacement if possible.. wondering if I can mail my phone to the UK as I'm from Poland. :/

Always On Display eats a bunch of battery.

How much is "a bunch"?
Are there any measurements available comparing actual AOD battery usage?
Anecdotally, I've turned my AOD off and cannot tell a difference in battery usage.
I like having AOD turned on, so I leave it that way.

For me, it was quite noticeable. I failed to take quantitative measurements or outsource data analysis. The battery drain far exceeded the benefit of AOD.

When I first got my Pixel 2 XL I tried it with the AOD on overnight and with it off. IIRC, my phone would lose about 10% overnight with it on and about 7% with it off. This is over approximately 9 hours. I consider that to insignificant and I leave the AOD on all the time.

Do you keep power saving mode on all the time?

Ha ha. I wish.
I set my phone down around 10:30 and pick up my tablet for Kindle reading until about 11:30, then go to sleep. Wake up around 7:00. I get back to my phone around 7:30, plug it in to charge while I get ready for work.
