S5 reverting back in date

I have previously had an S3 and the phone would go backwards in date without warning. One time it went all the way back to 1970. I had the phone replaced twice as well as the SIM card. It didn't matter. I upgraded when I could to an S5 and now today it has started happening again this time we were back to August 14, 2006. I have no odd apps on the phone. The usual, Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest. Otherwise the phone is exactly how it came out of the box. This may only happen once a week or 3 times in one day. It's very sporadic and doesn't coincide with a specific app. It usually just sitting here on my desk at work. When the date goes backwards the phone is useless. No texts, no calls, nothing going out or coming in.

I contacted Samsung and chatted online with a tech. She took over my phone remotely and couldn't figure it out either and basically gave up on me and said it was weird. I haven't heard of any one else with this issue. HELP!

Wow they just gave up on you? My advice: take it back

If the phone is in automatic mode (which it should be), it's showing the date it's getting from the cell tower it's connected to. Contact your carrier and make sure they're not working on the tower.

oh wow! I think you S5 is the time machine that Samsung accidentally released disguised as a phone! If you hold the phone while it revert back to an earlier date, you will go back in time with it.

It doesn't sound like resetting your phone would help much, does it? I'd say take it to your local carrier store and ask them what they think. If it's just a freak thing, they can't shoe you away. Your phone relies on the date for more functionality than your viewing.

If you bought from BestBuy, or RadioShack, etc. try taking it back. You're most likely within whatever return period they've got.
