Why is my Samsung galaxy A3 frozen?

I was on Skype and my phone completely froze. I've tried to reboot it by holding the up volume key, home button and power button but nothing has happened. What can I do?

Try a simple Power Off and Restart.

I believe that the procedure you describe may be for booting into Recovery Mode on a Samsung, starting from a powered-off state. If you do decide to enter Recovery, it may be work performing a Cache Partition wipe.
