Why is my Samsung galaxy tab 4.7.0 not updating?

I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 4.7.0 for 4 years and yet, it is stuck on android kitkat. My model in SM-T230, if that helps. Please tell me ASAP.

KitKat is the latest official update for that device. Someone may have done some work and developed a ROM of a later version for that device but installing such is not something many novices are eager to do as you need to be sure you have a backup of all your data (it wipes the device) and you risk rendering it unusable if you don't do things right.
