Why is my Samsung Note 4 Vibrating when the sound is on?

Samsung Note 4 Vibrating when sound is on

Whenever I have my Note 4, with the sound on, it vibrates and makes a sound whenever I get a notification. Just curious if it's supposed to do this or what. And if possible I would like to have the vibration be turned off. Thanks!
Also, has anyone had issues with the battery? I have done this twice,where I charge my phone up to 100% and unplug it right away and shUT it off while I sleep. I power it on in the morning and it's at like 82%, even though it was off!

Welcome to Android Central! You can certainly have sound and vibrate both on for notification tones and ringtones. There are two places you can turn off vibration. The first is the System Settings menu, under Sound. The second is the specific app responsible for the notification--so if you don't want vibration with your text message notifications, then open Messaging, tap Menu, then Settings, then look for the Notification options for that app.

When you say you shut the phone off overnight, are you actually powering it completely off, or just putting the screen to sleep?

Thank you! When I say it's off, I completely power it down. Not just having it "sleep"

The battery shouldn't be doing that if you're powered completely off. How old is the phone? You might have a defective battery. Try a new or different one.

Try this first. Charge it to 100% with it off. Wait 10 minutes. Charge it for another half hour. Remove the battery from the phone and go to sleep.

In the morning, put the battery in, turn the phone on and see if it's 99% or 100% (it can drop a little while starting). If it's still around 82%, bring it to the carrier and tell them that they sold you a phone with a defective battery. (Lithium batteries self-discharge, but that's like 1%/MONTH, not 18% in 8 hours.)

Thank you both! I will try that with the battery. However I'm still having issues with the whole vibration and sound thing. When I have my phone on silent, I want it silent (which it is, so that's good). When I want my phone on with sound, I want sound only. When I want my phone on vibrate, I only want it to vibrate.

It's literally brand new, I got my Note 4 the day it came out from AT&T.

I'm not sure how similar the Note 4 is to the Tab Pro, but I've noticed on my wife's Tab Pro that there isn't an option to turn off vibration universally. It seems like some odd quirk or oversight on Samsung's part.
