Why is my storage showing the wrong amount on internal memory?

I tweaked my phone awhile back and am now able to move all apps that didn't come with the phone to my sd card as well as all media. My internal memory is only half full and it showed the correct amount of storage on both my internal memory and my sd card. Now suddenly the phone is saying the internal memory is full when it's not. I checked my apps and they still show to be on the sd card, so there is nothing to move. I rebooted the phone but nothing changed. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Welcome to Android Central! Which phone? I assume that "tweaking" means that you rooted it?

No I didn't root it, I ran a program that makes it possible to move all apps (except the ones that came already loaded) and all media to the sd card. The phone is a Motorola Moto E running kitkat 4.4.4.

I'm not sure how legitimate that app is, because you can't move an entire app to the SD card on phones running versions below Marshmallow. On your unrooted phone, the best you can do is to move a portion of the app to the SD by going to Settings>Apps, selecting the app, and tapping Move to SD. What's the program you used to make this possible?

Sorry, I'm not familiar with that program. Since it's not commercially available, it's difficult to know exactly how it's working, and how buggy it might be. It sounds like what it does is to make all non-system apps movable to SD, but the way the website describes it, it sounds like you can still only move a portion of the app, and not the entire app, to the SD.

That doesn't explain why your Internal Storage is reading as full, though. It could be a bug -- you could try contacting the author of that blog post. Also, try using a file manager app to look around Internal Storage for unusually large files, like .obb files.

I was actually thinking about getting a Moto E. Mainly because of official ROM support. What is your opinion on the device? I think if I get one, I'll probably put CM13 on it. Have you tried any custom ROMs or just stock?

My device isn't rooted. I considered it, but with my luck I would just brick it. I think it's a very good phone for what I paid for it ($19.99 on ebay), the only drawback is it.s only got 4GB of internal memory, so I put in a 32GB sd card. Then I ran a program through my computer that made the sd card the default storage. You can move apps you already installed to the card, though not the pre-installed ones. The only thing I don't like about it (and I just discovered this last night) is that you cannot remove the battery. It's covered up by a metal piece that is not removable. I got one of these for my daughter, her boyfriend, and a friend of mine.
If you need links to ebay or the memory tweak I mentioned just ask!
