Why is Nova Launcher blurring my Wallpapers?

Hi!

I recently followed Ara's tutorial on how to emulate the Pixel Launcher using Nova (link below).

It works great but, for some reason, my homescreen wallpaper image keeps getting blurred. The weird thing is that it doesn't happen immediately, only after leaving the phone idle for a few minutes.

Any thoughts?

I'm using a Galaxy S6 running Marshmallow.
