Why is Playstore App updates stuck at 99%?

I have good internet connection, but updates of apps in Google play store freezes at 99% on my Redmi Note 7. I have cleared cache, and removed play store from any power saving mode, but the problem persists. At times, new installs in playsore will take forever to start. Please help.

Welcome to Android Central! Did you clear both cache AND data from the Play Store app? Do the same for the Download Manager app as well -- to find it, go to Settings>Apps​, then tap Menu>Show System.
