Why is Samsung connection speed so poor during peak times

Both my S8 and S7 edge connection speed slowed to a crawl when on the train during peak times.

It's impossible to even load an email. This is on Three, O2 and Giff Gaff.

Whip out my work phone which is an iPhone and also O2 and no issues whatsoever.

What could be the cause?

As you said, peak time. Everyone on the train on O2 or Giff Gaff you're on who's using mobile data is trying to use the same tower, and since a tower doesn't have infinite bandwidth, it's apportioning what it has among all the people trying to use it.

The actual question is why your iPhone is working well.

Well yes that's the same question. Why does the iPhone work with no issue on the same network and the Samsung doesn't?
