Why is storage full, when I have SD card set as internal?

[Android Central Question]

I have purchased a Lenovo Tab 4 16 gb running Android 8 and a 128gb SD card, which was formatted as internal. Trying to download files from my Google Drive, I quickly got the error of storage full.

I was under the impression, that setting the SD card as internal, the device would juggle items automatically, and merge the internal and sd card storage.

Any idea why this doesn't work?

Welcome to Android Central! The card could be counterfeit (i.e., isn't actually as big as it claims to be), or Lenovo's implementation of Adoptable Storage might be poor. They have a history of Adoptable Storage glitches in Moto phones.
