Why is the Moto X Pure cpu clock speed 1.8ghz when the Snapdragon 808 spec shows 2.0ghz?

Why is the moto x pure cpu clock speed 1.8ghz when the snapdragon 808 spec shows 2.0ghz?

When I look up moto x pure/style specs the cpu clock speed is 1.8ghz. But if I just search the cpu itself I see 2.0ghz. Im wondering if Motorola underclocked it for this phone but idk why that would be

Hi and Welcome to AC!

If you check out the Qualcomm page for the 808, it actually states 'up to' 2 GHz.

I'm guessing Moto scaled back slightly to better control heat. In day to day use, there should be no discernible difference between 1.8 and 2.
