Why is there 4 text messages i cant access?

The number goes up accordingly, as new texts come in, but 4 are always left that I cannot find.

Have you tried restarting the phone, it might just be a miscalculation in the phone

try a different texting app

Welcome to Android Central! If you're talking about the unread count badge, try going to Settings>Apps, tap Menu>Show System, and look for something called BadgeProvider. Clear Cache/Data from that, and then see if the count resets properly.
