Why is there no gallery in Lollipop 5.0?

Download KitKat gallery apk & install it on your phone. Gallery will be there

If you just want the old Gallery back you may try looking for Gallery Lollipop in the Play Store, for example.

I prefer QuickPix over Gallery.

Just had a quick look at QuickPix and it looks kinda cool, does it intergrate Google Photo's with the photo's on the device?

You mean QuickPic. QuickPix is a game. It is a replacement photo gallery that also has basic editing. You can add any photo file explorer - Dropbox, Flickr, Picasa, etc.
