There is no sound on my recorded android video

I used a wired selfie stick to take a video of me and a friend but when I go back to review the video there is no sound. I have a Galaxy Note 2. Why will the sound not play? Does it have to do with the selfie stick wiring preventing it to play sound during recording? If so, how can I fix this issue and how can I get the sound back on my original (soundless) video. It's really important that I find a way to get sound back on this video because my friend is moving across the country and I won't see her again.

Re: There is no sound on my recorded android video

It could be the selfie stick, (I haven't used one before) but most of the ones I have seen are BT enabled so you may want to look at those. I would also check the sound without the stick, if it still doesn't play then its the mic, if it does play then you know its how the selfie stick is plugging in. Is it plugged into the microUSB or the headphone jack?

Hi! I was wondering if you have figured how to fix this problem because I have the exact same issue. If you can help please? Thank you very much.

My daughter had this problem its because your plugging the wired selfie into the headphone jack, which when you use headphones integrates the mic with it. Just use it without the jack plugged in and you will get sound.

Re: There is no sound on my recorded android video

Actually..having same problem..and am using no selfie stick I think because sometimes when you are on a call before recording the video the phone does not recognize that the call has already ended so it blocks the microphone and hence does not record any sound. For me, I would just leave the video and will not erase it till I figure out, or somebody figures out, a solution in the near or far future

I know this was a while ago but the question is still not answered. Unfortunately there is no way to get the sound back because it was never recorded. The selfie stick cable makes the phone think there is an external microphone (like it would if you plugged the headset that came with the phone) and therefore tries to record sound from a non-existing external mic. I learned this the hard way too when I recorded a video using a selfie stick and my cell phone and it came out with no sound. This was also a situation where it is impossible to recover the sound and would have been sad because my girlfriend and I were traveling to one of those places that you may never return in your lifetime. I was extremely lucky in that she recorded a video with a digital camera the entire time I was also recording which means I can add the audio from her video with any editing software. Some bits of my narration were lost in the ambient noise but that's better than nothing. I took a second video the same day with the selfie stick which also came out with no audio and that second time I was quick to realize the trigger cable was to blame. Took out the cable and tried again and sound came back. Unfortunately it was not possible to re-record the event so I was stuck with a silent video.

I think the problem is most likely an operator malfunction.
I got caught on this myself.
I went thru the whole press the speaker / erase the cache partition / factory reset
bit and none of it worked.

Android is a new thing and the applications I have seen are not polished yet.
(Example: having to use the Gallery to select a contact photo.)

This assumes the Galaxy S8 but should be similar on other Android cellphones.
I am going to type this as if you want to play back a video you shot (with sound).

Tap 'Gallery' then 'Camera'.
You will see thumbnails of the videos you have taken.

Tap a video thumbnail.
The video will appear to be playing in a loop without audio.
There will be a 'play' icon in the middle of the video.
Tap the 'Play' icon in the middle of the screen before it disappears.
The video will start playing with audio.

Note:
Make sure you do not have your sound turned all the way off.
