Android Central Question

I dropped my phone in water and left it there for a few hours, after a little bit it was back to normal but now it has white horizontal lines on it do you know how to fix it?

Rice? OMG... You really mean rice? It's scam...

If the phone isn't water resistant, you can throw it away (depends, how old is it)...
If it is possible, remove battery and go to service.

We have a guide on this topic - https://forums.androidcentral.com/a...-tos/477140-guide-oh-no-my-phone-got-wet.html

Of course - the first steps are to stop using the phone, remove the battery and not connect it to a charger. The battery part isn't easily accomplished, but the first one certainly wasn't followed. Better than rice would be some other desiccant (liquid absorber, those little packets inside many products) but rice works when you don't have those available in large quantity.

I wouldn't call it a scam, per se. Is it effective? Probably not very, but uncooked rice can act as a desiccant, so it will absorb a little moisture at least. Maybe using a bunch of those "Do Not Eat" silicone packets that come with many packaged items would be more effective, but most people don't have a ton of those lying around. Rukbat's guide that was linked above advocates soaking the phone in rubbing alcohol, since alcohol doesn't damage electrical components, but the reality in the OP's situation is that after "several hours" of water immersion, the damage is done.

You are correct.....it's not a scam and it does act as a desiccant.

Rice doesn't work at all for soaked phone. It's only an urban legend. Every good technician will tell you...

Only help is removing battery and going to service. They will use isopropyl alcohol for cleaning. But of display shows lines, then I think, they will have to replace it.

Despite any urban legend claims it does act as a mild desiccant. Will it save phone?....doubtful. Its moisture capacity is low so it would require massive quantities to have any potential effect. There are much more effective products availble to remove moisture.
