Why is this in the phone section?

I get where you're coming from. Just so you know the note 8 international version does have an ear speaker above the Samsung logo. You can hold it and use it like a phone. I haven't but it can be done.

I understand that, but every other forum and Samsung.com itself categorgizes it as a tablet...someone made a mistake here, plain and simple

AC is awesome, and I just can't believe this is a mistake. The note 8 is a phone plain and simple. The micro USB jack proves it as I cannot charge it with my legacy galaxy tab chargers, including the note 10.1's.

I think that's because they went from proprietary to micro usb.

This is probably the most bizarre thread on the AC forums.
Saying that because it has a micro USB port proves it is a phone has to be the tenuous argument yet.
For the record, my Note 8 (with calling capabilities) is a tablet. My phone is an HTC One X+.

I was just about to say this. I can't believe people are actually arguing about this lol

Strong evidence here reinforcing that people have trouble differentiating the fine line between sarcasm and reality in online postings. I will now introduce my second exhibit proving the note 8 is a phone, lets discuss the physical home button...

There may actually only be one poster here who is seriously arguing the point...

It's a tablet!
Plain and simple!

Or are we going to call my PalmPad (TouchPad) a phone just because it also charges with a micro USB charger???!!!:what::eek:
:rolleyes::banghead::D

Arguing with facts and seriously arguing the point are not necessarily the same thing. One could serously argue using facts, while another could be using facts to extend the thread debate, all the while having tongue firmly implanted in cheek. (Btw I think this already bizarre thread has definitely jumped the shark lol)

Dunno, does it have a dedicated home button too? If it walks like a duck...

vferrari is definetly being sarcastic, but im not sure about the others..they seirously think it's a phone

in order to consider something a phone, ask yourself this, are you willing to hold it up to your head to talk on it without a bluetooth?

Yes, I was trying to inject a little humor into this thread, but all kidding aside, I do want to make some points that don't necessarily justify why AC set the Note 8 forum in the phone section (or even suggest the Note 8 is a phone) but that restate why some previous points I made. Specifically, having owned the original Galaxy Tab, the Tab 7 Plus, the Note 10.1, a Galaxy S4, and now the Note 8, I honestly think Samsung borrowed more from the Galaxy S4 than the Note 10.1 for the Note 8 based on the S4-like user interface and moving away from the 30-pin connector. That's all I was trying to point out. I use my S4 as a phone, my Note 10.1 like a netbook at home (with dedicated keyboard and mouse), and my Note 8 as my on-the-go tab. I don't use the Note 8 as a phone but it looks and feels like an S4 on steroids.

The fact that it has a phone interface and a dedicated earpiece speaker makes it a phone. The use of a Bluetooth headset doesn't negate the fact. I use a Bluetooth headset no matter what size phone I use. I'm not holding my arm up while talking, period.

It's interesting to see what side of the fence people sit on for this debate. :)

It's interesting to see people like you debate this. It'd quite entertaining actually

My TV also has a dedicated earpiece and a phone interface. I guess it must be a phone instead of a TV too

I'm not the one who categorized it. AC, Samsung and the carriers did. I'm just wondering why people think they can change their decision. I don't care how it's listed. I'm just glad I have one. :)
