why is this remote widget showing up on my phone (Galaxy Note 4) and freezing it?

If I push the remote I am unable to do anything on my phone. I can't even turn it off. I have to remove the battery

It's a known issue affecting many users. The culprit is an app called Peel Smart Remote. Search for it in your app manager and disable it.

I had same issue few days ago .it had suddenly appeared .it is that app and and you need to go to application manager and disable it.i disabled it on my note4 and that resolved the issue for me.

If you actually use the Peel app and don't want the widget to show, turn it off in the Peel settings.

I probably use the Peel Remote app more than my regular remote lol. The IR blaster is one feature that people never talk about, but its one of the main things that's keeping me using the Note 4.

Never used it before now the icon all of a sudden shows up on my lock screen.
