Why is this "silent mode" screen coming up?

AC Question

When I plug in or unplug my phone from a charger whole it's on silent, a screen saying "good morning" pops up with a different wallpaper. It says slide to unlock on the bottom (I have my phone set to a fingerprint and pin). It has only the option to mute it from the options in the top right. In the center it says how the phone is in silent mode and mentions how I might miss calls and gives me the options to put the ringer on or not. I didn't change any settings recently for this screen to pop up.

Nevermind.... i don't have it in the installed applications but going in the play store i can see it and uninstall the updates (not all the application). So bad thingssss.......

Thanks all for the help, and better things for all ^_^

As per one of the other comments....it seems that is to do with the Peel Remote App. I used the multitask button to the left of the "Home" button to call up all running apps and close anything to do with Peel App. Plugged it into my charger and bingo... no more "silent mode"

What about those of us who use peel?

In the Peel application, click on the settings -> Notifications. At the bottom of the notifications there is an option for "Ringer Alerts" that can be unchecked. I'd also uncheck the "Battery Saver Alerts" to stop the annoying notification when the battery hits 20%. You probably also want to disable notifications for Peel as a whole in the Android App management, although just disabling all notifications at that level won't stop the Silent or Battery warnings (odd). This has worked for me, so far.....

Finally i found the solution to turn off that notifications, just go to settings -> Notifications -> Select "Peel Remote" App and turn off its notifications. That's it..

Deleted peel remote app and now don't get that incredibly annoying notification at the top every time I plug my charger in.

Thanks to whoever worked that out!

Same issue here on my older S4... unfortunately I cannot uninstall the Peel app as it is part of Samsung or Verison's default factory ones. I've gone into the settings and found the app and told it to disable it and restore to factory version and unchecked notifications, so hopefully that will do it.

I have an S4 too and have done the same as TL_Lives and Peel Remote has reverted to factory WatchOn add on.

I am with docomo, not Verison, so I guess this is Samsung's doing.

I fear it will update itself and do the same again.

The wake up screens were not so bad, quite pretty even, but there were also full screen ads for aps mixed in! Nasty.

For me it wasn't silent mode, but every time I went to unlock the phone it had this extra screen I had to swipe off first, just like the original poster here.
I had no "peel remote" like some of the others said to look for, and nothing odd showed up in my appslist.
So I looked in settings for notification settings, and there was an app listed in there that I had never seen before, set to notify me. It was called fast charger 5x so I searched for it on the Google play store, and play store said it was already installed so I c!icked un- install.
My problem went away!
Now if I can figure out why things can install without me knowing......

Welcome as a new member and thank you for the feedback.

Uninvited apps sometimes come via some other third-party app that you may have installed, or possibly, in some phones, through apps pre-installed by the manufacturer, presumably in return for payment from the developer thereof.

This really should be illegal

This app is insane, most of the issues are mentioned in the article. But the fact that on many phones it is pre-installed, and as mentioned the fact that it doesn't identify itself as the source are crazy enough. But then the fact that when you go in to limit notifications, it only gives you the option to turn things off for up to a month, just like with its extortion fee, if it just charged a one time fee of $5 or maybe even 10 to turn off all the unwanted adds, but no it wants to charge you a $1 for as long as you have your phone, possibly longer if it auto charges even when you lose the phone.

This app truly acts like malware, but its more then that since it comes packaged with many phones.

This really does demonstrate huge potential issues with Android if this behaviour is allowed from apps, especially an app that many did not choose to install, but it instead came pre installed. Shoot, I would join a class action lawsuit, even if it didnt net me a dime, just as long as I knew the lawyers involved were taking a big chunk of change from whomever was responsible for this BS.

Yeah this is Samsung's doing, if they dont indirectly own peel, they have a direct agreement with its developers.

Correction: Samsung used to own it, it was called "Samsung WatchON". I assume they sold it, or made a shell company for it to cover what they planned to do with it (i.e. what's happening currently)
