Why is unlocked always last?

Unlocked needs to be tested and verified stable on ALL carriers instead of just one is the only thing that I can think of. But I am just guessing.

Well I see they think we r still dumb. I mean I could flash it via Odin I guess. Samsung says any carrier can be flashed to unlocked devices, but it's such a hassle if you decide to switch carriers

Makes no sense. We have the same radio firmware. All that's required is the SIM. Best not be trying to add that bloatware! Need tester I'm up for it. Gimme Gimme! I am shocked vzw hasn't actually asked people to test it.

It makes total sense though.

Well it makes sense only for the North American variant because of the complexity of having 3 different types of networks (global GSM, Verizon and the slightly different Sprint's). If it were GSM testing only (rest of the world) then it wouldn't make sense to wait until each and every carrier has tested.

I remember the days when we could flash our own radio firmware without the hassle. Don't see why that is such an issue today. To me it's more like punishment for not getting carrier branded devices. I think unlocked needs to be all we buy. I for one have all the features on my unlocked N8. Go figure they say it can't be done, but vzw likes money so they turn it on at their end to keep me. I see no real reason for this wait otherwise.

Ok here's the deal. You get unlocked Note 8. It loads the radio firmware depending on SIM card you insert. So where's the delay for testing? I could Odin oreo and my phone work with all the carriers. What am I missing? Oh I'm unlocked so they being little !!!! cuz I didn't what the stupid bloatware! No but seriously I'm just impatient that's all.

Yeah same here lol. I'm on an unlocked S8+ and in the same boat as you. Some of us tested the beta and were at least expecting the firmware to be released to the unlocked and TMobile variants first but we got the boot. I'm still thinking about Odin'ng to the Sprint firmware (I'm on Sprint) so at least I can get some Sprint specific features which otherwise isn't available on unlocked. I might have to deal with the other bloatware that comes with the firmware but at least I don't have to deal with delayed updates (hopefully).

To be honest, the Oreo update is really not worth getting excited about. I had it on my Verizon S8 for a short time before I purchased an unlocked Note 8 last week. There were a few SMALL things I noticed between the S8 nougat and oreo versions, but nothing really all that major.

Not making excuses for Samsung though. Their speed at pushing out updates that released last year is beyond ridiculous, but I guess that most of us on the Android Central forums probably realized this before purchasing our Samsung phones.

Well then why do we even care about the update? I was hoping for a bit of extra battery time, but heck my wife is flipping mad cause she has vzw model and now no more custom text sounds. Wth r they doing? R they trying to go for another N7 debacle? I bet they hired an ex Apple genius and the N9 is going to feature no head phone jack with poo emoji!

In theory, unlocked should be first, but I'm sure carriers are hindering that in some way.
