Android System Update not updating

Hi, I'm really new here, as in I've never used forums before. So I hope I do this right.

Anyway, I recently got an LG G3 and I couldn't be happier. One of my favourite smartphones thus far. I got excited when it said there was a system update ready for Android (Lollipop perhaps?)

It said it downloaded the update files and I pushed update & restart (or whatever the button said) and it said "waiting to download" 232MB via WiFi Only Until Feb. 21.

I have no WiFi network that I am able to connect to (unless mobile hotspot counts? I doubt it because I'm connected that way now and it doesn't seem to be working). Is there a way to force the download? I have unlimited data so it's not like I'd be sacrificing anything. Or do I have to wait until Feb. 21 for this update?

If it doesn't work via wifi, then I guess you will have to wait.
I know, it is annoying that they don't give an option to download by cellular data, stupid things to do in 2015 haha.

Welcome to the Android Central forums!

Yes, you have to connect to a WiFi data connection in order to download that update.

Do you know why?

I've been thinking and I'm going to take a leap and guess it has something to do with since this update is changing integral parts of the system it might interrupt data connection. Therefore doing it through your mobile data would not work? And thanks for the welcome!

Well, at this point it does not matter. I am going somewhere where there is WiFi and I will hopefully be able to update. Thank you everyone for your thoughtful responses. I think I'm going to like using forums.
