Galaxy SIII Mini not turning off

Just today my Galaxy SIII Mini (Rooted over a week ago) won't turn off. I hit the power button but the screen stays on. My timeout is at default and I haven't installed any new apps recently. I've tried rebooting and taking out the battery. It just kills the battery. If I hold the power button it still shows the "Phone Options" with "Power Off" and such. I can't get a new phone either.

Have you tried any Switch Off Screen apps? Do a search on that, for example, in the Play Store....there are several there.
That, if it works, is not a proper fix, but may suffice at least temporarily.

(I registered) I installed the app and ran it. It turned off for a second, but then went to my lock screen to unlock it.
