Why isnt my mic on my earbuds working on my stylo4?

Ok so like during calls or really anything at all like recording video or voice the mic wont pick anything up. I've tried the earbuds on my old phone and the mic works just fine. Does anyone know how I can fix this?

Are these wired earbuds? If so, the wiring might not be compatible. Like iPhone headsets won't work with some Android phones, Nokia used to do their own wiring scheme, etc.
