Why isn't my Note 3 detected by Kies but is detected as a Galaxy Note 3 by Windows?

Note 3 not detected by Kies but detected as GalaxyNote3 by Windows

Hi All,

My Note3 connects successfully with the PC and I can browse its storage if I select USB Storage from Note3 but after I cant see my device in Samsung Kies even I changed to Media Device (MTP). I also tried ODIN but it does not detect the device as well.

I have reinstalled USB drivers, changed usb ports, reinstalled Kies, installed Kies on another computer but no success.....

All I want is to upgrade from 4.3 Jelly Beans. I tried to update using "About Phone" and then "System Updates" menu but it quickly says "Network Connection Failed" and then "Your system is currently up to date". I even changed to other networks and can successfully use internet on my device....

can someone tell me what the issue could be? I just got this phone a couple of days ago.

Sounds like there are issues with your cable. Try a different one. If you are in the States, your carrier may give you a replacement for free (I know Verizon does).

It sounds like it may not be a real Note 3, but I hope I am wrong. Is there another Note 3 you can compare it too.
Otherwise maybe it was unused for so long, and it has Jelly Bean still....

You can try an App like Genuine Galaxy, Phone Spec or Antutu (information) and read the Sticky thread on How to Spot a fake at the top of this forum

Also look in About Device - Status and scroll to the end. There are other ways with service codes. I hope someone else can advise you better than I here.

(the cable should be alright if you can see the folders).
