Why isn't my Note 5 handwriting pad recognizing text?

Note 5 handwriting pad not recognizing text

I just found the option to open the handwriting pad on the built in keyboard, but I can't get it to recognize my handwriting. I'm able to write on the pad, and it scrolls to the right but no recognition or text entry takes place. Am I missing a button I have to press after writing on the pad?

I was able to get it working by killing the keyboard in the "Application" settings. I had to do it twice in 2 weeks.

Could you explain killing the application with instructions on how to. I have a note 5 and experiencing the same issue, handwriting pad will auto scroll when writing or printing, but does not auto fill the selection <text>.

1. Swipe down from the top of the screen and touch the gear to open settings.
2. Scroll down and touch Applications
3. Touch Application manager
4. Swipe to the right to view the ALL tab
5. Scroll down until you find Samsung keyboard, and touch it
6. Touch FORCE STOP

Restarting your phone will probably also resolve the issue.
