why isn't there a GN with GSM and 4G LTE radio?(like the new iPad which does both... so it can use Verizon 4G LTE in the US and GSM in the rest of the world)

Mostly because there isn't a large GSM+LTE network...

The problem with LTE is that it's very band-specific. There is no 4G iPad outside of the US (and even in the US it only works in a handful of cities), Apple's actually getting sued for their use of 4G in branding in places like Australia where it can't connect to any 4G service. There can't currently be a GSM+LTE global phone which would mean that Samsung would need to have a specific phone for each country - much larger overhead for the small percentage of the world with LTE. However, the GN successor should be positioned well for this since LTE is being rolled out by more and more countries.
