Why isn't there a option to get the internet phone on the phone?

I thought if you had 2.3.7 you can get the internet phone. I guess it is because on the stock rom virgin mobile doesn't put the option in there. And it is most likely because they don't want people to use it to get free unlimited calling on plans that don't offer it. Well I really want the internet phone and I am almost going to flash it with a custom rom but I don't know if it is worth it or not. I have flashed my optimus v several times with no issues. At first I was afraid I might brick it but it got easier each time I flashed it.

Are you talking about a Voice Over IP Phone? If you are, then just use google voice. If you google it there are bunches of apps that do the same thing for free or a low price.

Well the voip that should be built in is easier for me to use. I have tried lots of things and any of them took minutes off my phone.

Are there cell phone service providers that build VOIP into their phones?

Good point. I would assume that since they always disable specific features on the phone like wifi tethering that this would be one of them. So I am just going to have to get a custom rom. I have the phone rooted just I haven't figured out how to get the custom recovery installed. I completely forgot how to do it as I have done it once before on my old optimus v but I would assume it would be different for this phone.

I use GrooveIP, the paid app. I am not rooted. A friend uses the free app, which is probably designed for tablets, on his Galaxy IIs. It works okay and does not cost minutes. You will need to have a Google Voice number/account, also free.

I use Simon Telephonics | Voice-over-IP, Asterisk, IP PBX and Linux consulting which makes a gateway for you to be able to use your google voice account on any voip software for the phone. Since google voice disabled its gateway for you to be able to use it directly with a voip software I found Simon Telephonics | Voice-over-IP, Asterisk, IP PBX and Linux consulting and it lets you make an account to use the google voip account. I think it is easier to use the built in software instead of having to download an app and have to pay for it as well. I am a cheap person and don't usually want to spend money on something that I can get for free that does the same thing.
