Why Nexus 6P?

Why have Nexus done a downgrade from the famous Nexus 6 to a far inferior, tiny screen Nexus 6P? I can't understand it?

Nexus 6: 5.96 inches (~74.1% screen-to-body ratio)
Nexus 6p: 5.7 inches (~71.4% screen-to-body ratio)
Smaller, yes, but tiny? hmm... not really. 0.26inch diagonal difference is really minuscule.

6p is narrower, which was important to a lot of people (I found the 6 to be ok in my hands, but not everybody has large hands).
To me, I found the screen on a friend's 6p to be slightly better than the screen on my 6. It is fairly close though.

The camera on the 6p, especially in low-light, is significantly better than the 6.
6p doesn't have wireless charging, which I would like to have. But to me, that was the only con. Other than that, I found the 6 and 6p to be evenly matched (which ironically is why I didn't bother to upgrade to the 6p - since the 6 was good enough - well, except for the camera).

My Nexus 6 bit the dust through no fault of it's own.
For replacement I ordered a New-other Nexus 6 from eBay.
A never registered floor model....? Whatever.
Sure it's less money and that was a factor in my decision.
Mostly it was about: Wireless charging, old USB, screen size, N6 cores run faster, Moto's antennae/signal implementation plus seeing what is coming out next. Considered Samsung S7/e but am wary of updates that might never come.
Currently utilizing a Sony Z3 Compact until it arrives.
That's tiny....But very impressive

+ OIS
- camera not as good
- cheap plastic back
- curved back that rocks when set down

In the end, Nexus 6 is still pretty great and I don't want to give up wireless charging or buy new cables and adapters.

I have both nexus 6 was my favorite phone of all time. 6p is faster with a better screen. Reception seems the same. Size, phone is easier to handle and I really don't miss the size difference. Only thing I miss is wireless charging. While I don't feel that the 6p is a huge upgrade it is definitely is a upgrade. I got mine at best buy on sale for 424 and had a 10% off coupon with a free speck case. Total cost of a little over 400 got 300 for my 6 plus a few accessories. At that price I didn't think I could go wrong

I don't think the 6P is a huge upgrade from the 6 but it's definitely not a downgrade, especially if you want a better camera, metal build, USB type C and fingerprint sensor. I ended up picking the 6 because I was able to get 64 GB version for less than 280 and it has bigger screen and wireless charging. Also prefer the overall design and feel of the 6.

The nexus 6 is a great phone. Only low light camera shots are better on 6P. The nexus 6 although plastic, was a very well build and premium feeling device, The 5.99 inch screen was big and crispy. I loved that phone, except for the low light and jumpy auto focus video camera. Then again the 6p video is shaky as hell as well. If someone was to guy a nexus today, they wouldn't be conceding much to the 6p IMO

I almost love my Nexus 6. But it's just too wide. I for one will be upgrading to the 6p when I can.

Although the 6P is a beautiful device, it's not enough of an "upgrade" for me to part with my Nexus 6....

Fingerprint sensor and metallic body is great but I like wireless charging. Camera is not an issue for me. You can't go wrong with a 6P, if I didn't have my N6, the Nexus 6P would be in my hand at this moment.

Darn, have to return my "slightly used" Nexus 6 while I can.
Found the usb port was funky. Still worked, but the cable wouldn't stay connected on it.
Annoying. Done with Nexus 6 research, just done.
Decided to utilize my current phone(s) rather than buy yet another.
Not a fan of SD810, non-wireless charging Nexus 6P.
Quite sure it's a fine phone; just not for me.
Hear the 5X is under-powered, gets the stutters on occasion....
Will have to wait for another Nexus before pulling the trigger.

I wouldn't mind a slightly smaller screen. I bought the Nexus 6 because it was a Nexus, and because I got a good price on it, but it's honestly just a bit bigger than I'd prefer. I have fairly large hands, but just can't do one-handed use like I'd like to sometimes - at least not while feeling confident I won't drop the phone. The notion that bigger = better isn't one that everyone agrees with.

I think it was in the last podcast, the Q&A one, in which they also said that the 5X got noticeably better. I guess it could be useful if they wrote a sort of second opinion piece to reflect any changes reflecting updated software.

Have both 6p and 5x on project fi. Amazing 2 phones. And yes, 5x is smooth and great phone after the latest upgrade. Highly recommended if you are looking for a smaller profile phone.

Kind of hard to believe that the 5X is a poor performer when my N6 is so snappy. The CPU on the 5X is supposed to be better with less pixels to push. So that doesn't really make sense to me. I would definitely have to see it for myself to believe that.

Returning my 5X.
my Major problem: Compared to high-end phones...it feels cheap and fragile. Only used it for a few days, Lag was there but not prominent. 10 Processors running at 1.8 Ghz are not the equal of 4 @ 2.7 Ghz truth be told. At least for the vast majority of apps. Bought a new Sony Xperia Z3 on sale will utilize that for a period of time.
Regarding Project Fi, it will have to wait it's turn. Don't know what the future holds .
