Why have Nexus done a downgrade from the famous Nexus 6 to a far inferior, tiny screen Nexus 6P? I can't understand it?

Hear the 5X is under-powered, gets the stutters on occasion....
Apparently people are saying recent updates made the 5X a good phone.
....But many users, including our Android Central editorial team, decried the 5X's poor performance. Andrew Martonik, AC's West Coat editor, noted that "whether it was opening apps, scrolling heavy webpages or switching between different areas of the phone, everything seems to take a little longer than it should."....
I think it was in the last podcast, the Q&A one, in which they also said that the 5X got noticeably better. I guess it could be useful if they wrote a sort of second opinion piece to reflect any changes reflecting updated software.
Thanks.
Ordered one for Project Fi usage.
We shall see.
Kind of hard to believe that the 5X is a poor performer when my N6 is so snappy. The CPU on the 5X is supposed to be better with less pixels to push. So that doesn't really make sense to me. I would definitely have to see it for myself to believe that.Nexus 5X versus iPhone SE: Battle of the upper middle class | Android Central
