Android Central Question

We are big fans of motorola, especially the moto e (2020).
Why no update for android 11?
It would be so nice to have an update for this phone, the moto g fast is getting it, both these phones hit the market on the same day.
Just one update ,would be nice.
Thank you

The Motorola site indicates the device will continue to receive security updates, no info on OS upgrades. However, even for phones that are already getting Android 11 this was the status.

I thought I read a story last year that Motorola was releasing phones that would NEVER see an OS update, I thought the Moto E was in that group.

Welcome to Android Central! Moto is notorious for very poor support in terms of Android system upgrades, so I wouldn't be surprised if their budget line (the Moto E) was never intended to get any upgrades.

Motorola is EXTREMELY stingy with updates to their phones.... that's their biggest way of keeping their prices down. They also don't make the most optimized updates either... which means more bugs. I like to pick up Moto phones on clearance for $200 or less as backup or short term phones, some of their phones can be very solid devices.

But if you like updates, spend a little more and pick up something like a pixel 4a on sale. Moto phones aren't meant for folks who like updates.
