Why no voicemail notification on status bar?m

My Samsung sol 2 will not show when I have a voicemail, on the status bar.

Welcome to Android Central! Is your voicemail inbox set up correctly? Open the Phone app, tap Menu>Settings>Call Settings>Voicemail, and make sure the correct number for your carrier's voicemail inbox is entered. Also, call your voicemail inbox and make sure it's set up.
