I often get frustrated that I can't always select, copy, and past things on my Droid. So, I go to my laptop and do what I need and go back to the Droid. Will select, copy, and paste options be more available in applications on the Droid and Gmail?

To my knowledge they are not making improvements to copy/paste in 2.2. What specifically are you not able to use copy/paste on?

I agree. Copy and paste is basically broken on Android. Try selecting some text from an email. It's infuriating. And the browser is not much better! I wish I could help you out, OP, but I'm in the same spot as you.

Not really broken. It's just poorly implemented and inaccurate at times. Having to slide open the keyboard, hold shift and drag your finger across the text in an email is a bit annoying but does work. HTC did a better job with the browser on the new SenseUI devices that allows you to drag tabs to highlight the text. Google should have taken the hint and made that OS wide in 2.2.

Agree, Copy and Paste was poorly implemented. It would be nice to see some improvements in the near future.

I hate that I can't copy a contact's # and txt it to someone... You have to dial the number, then copy it from the dialpad... UGH.

Yeah, considering how great everything else is on the Android OS, I was kinda shocked at how crappy the copy/past/select functions are. Copying and pasting links in the Dolphin browser is relatively painless. Everything else is a chore though.

I still haven't figured out how to use Docs To Go spreadsheets well, and I'm an accountant! It's not the least bit intuitive, this copy, cutting, pasting thing. And I have to figure that it must be because of the dual touch feature, either press or long press, which usually both have a function. So there's nothing left to use for copy...had figured that by now, I'd have it, but six months of not figuring it out, and I've pretty much given up trying to use DTG other than to review stuff or minor edits. Aggravating.

Cut/copy/paste on an a 2.1 device running SenseUI is exactly the same as the iPhone. it's a BLANTANT RIP.

instead of blue dots like on the iphone, they are green. It's 100% exactly the same lol..

so..with that said.. I'd recommend an HTC devce running 2.1 :)

On 2.2 you can now C&P on Gmail! It's under the menu button.
