AC Question

The orange notification bubble from an app that displays the number of messages from an app. This does not work for my LG g6, for Messenger, Instagram, Groupme, and few more. I get notifications from the phone itself in the top notification bar. I have updated the apps and the phone. I have also uninstalled and installed the apps. I have also made sure that in the setting for each app, notification is enabled, but it did not solve the issue.

Just wondering if someone else has/had this issue and a fix.

Welcome to Android Central. Whether they display depends on the OS, launcher and the apps themselves. They do not work for all phones with default launchers.

Even with Android 7.0?

More so with 7 if anything. The only one that works on my S8+ is the SMS app, nothing else. Most folks who need that are going to a different launcher.

Try Nova launcher. There's a fee for the Nova Launcher Prime ($5?) and to get the on icon notifications, you need the companion app TeslaUnread (which I think also costs a few bucks) but they're both worth it. I use both Nova and TeslaUnread on both my previous Nexus 6P and my current G6. Well worth the money. I don't even remember what the stock launchers look(ed) like.

Agreed 100%. Coming from an iPhone, I found the lack of unread notifications, as well as the lack of screen-waking notifications, to nearly be a deal breaker. Nova Prime, Teslaunread, and Floatify have brought all of that functionality to my phone, and I couldn't be happier!
