Why some photos in camera and some in dcim?

Why do some photos on my phone gallery show in the camera folder and some in DCIM folder? (Phone is Huawei p8 lite 2017)

Any chance you have multiple camera apps installed?

Welcome to Android Central! Have you manually copied or moved any photo files to the /DCIM directory? The Camera app should save to /DCIM/Camera by default, but if you moved or copied a photo to /DCIM only, then it'll show up in the Gallery app as being in a separate album from your Camera photos.
